When we bring God’s presence onto the streets he is doing more than we see, think, or could ever imagine. Shoppers have unexpectedly stepped into his powerful presence. We have had people ask us about the “presence” they experience as they pass by. One person told us they felt compelled to stop. “I felt this powerful presence, and became very emotional. I tried to go as far back as I could, but this presence was still there. Tell me was that God?”
One woman sat on one of the public benches near us as she waited for her mother in a nearby shop. Soon she was in tears, and the team went over to her. “I only came out to go shopping with my mother.” As her mother continued to shop, the team led her to Christ. God had been speaking to her all week.
This Saturday one of our team handed a woman a leaflet. “I have to tell you”, she said, “a few weeks ago I was walking across the square thinking, ‘I really should go for prayer’. I had been suffering with pain in my shoulder and across my back, but by the time I had crossed to the other side I was healed. I know God healed me.”
One of our team told us about two work colleagues who had decided to come for healing, but as they approached they kept walking and passed by. They didn’t take a seat but were healed anyway!
That may explain some of the strange behaviour we have been seeing. Some people make a beeline for us and then walk pass. Perhaps God is healing them too!
